i remember one christmas in the 90s, my boss (an old cuban guy) had me repair his 8 track player and his favorite elvis chrismas tape. spent two days of shop time just fixing the tape. had to take it apart and fix a bad part in the tape. i cut and spliced it till there was only one verse missing. and they never missed it. plus i had to iron out about three feet of wrinkled tape that got sucked into the player. he was so happy, not so much his wife

Back in the day you just shoved an empty folded up Zig Zag package in the slot with the tape and called it good.

Elvis Christmas tunes on 8-track................................. i think some would have us banned from an Altec forum. My Altecs are all nervous just watching me type the words. SSSShhhhhhhh, i hear somebody whimpering "No Daddy! No! Not that!"

I remember a few coming unraveled. Couldn't fit the tape back in.

I used to make a few bucks repairing Echoplex tapes with blank 8 track tape scavenged.
